Sam’s track ‘Only Time Will Tell’ is filled with sweet expressive melodies, interesting fast flurries and some unusual chord changes to keep you on your toes, giving you the opportunity to explore the harmony in extra detail.
Sam has based his soloing mostly on chord tones. Studying these alongside the notation can give you insights as to how you can also utilise chord tones to make your own guitar lines sound like part of the track and gel perfectly with the other instruments!
In this package you’ll get everything you need to master this track in it’s entirety, including ‘section’ video/audio for the intro, chord part, main riff and both solos. Sam has also included 12 slow licks from the solos so you can really break it all down and see exactly what he’s playing! On top of this you’ll also get the full song play though video/audio and backing track too so you can practise and perfect everything you learn and put it to good use over the backing!
If anything looks slightly unusual in the promo video, then it might be that you’ve picked up on the fact that Sam is actually tuned to fourths for this song. Fourths tuning allows the fretboard to be mapped out in a slightly more symmetrical fashion, so instead of EADGBE we tune the top two strings up a semitone to EADGCF.
A few world class players such as Alex Hutchings and Tom Quayle are fans of this tuning and maybe soon you will be too! We’ve included all of the TAB in fourths but fear not… we’ve also included full notation to everything in standard tuning as well (those with floating bridges, you’re very welcome!) so no matter what we’ve got you covered.
If you’ve been looking out for a new track to explore, then Sam’s song is going to give you plenty of fresh new ideas that you can implement into your own track right away!
